There is NO False Memory 'Syndrome'

PSA: False Memory Syndrome is not a thing.
It's just called false memories, and everyone gets them.

EVERYONE.

It's not a syndrome, because syndromes imply abnormality. We don't say, "I think that person has Perfect Health Syndrome, or Happiness Syndrome, or Nothing's Wrong Syndrome"...because the word syndrome is reserved for co-morbid presentations of negative symptoms, behaviors, etc... Go ahead, try to find a 'good' syndrome (no, not Goods Syndrome - that's an immunodeficiency).

The severity or complexity of the memory does not do anything to qualify one false memory over another as being part of a 'syndrome'. False memory creation is the result of a normal human memory system...a system that we know to be imperfect. It is the result of a limited attentional system, a lack of critical thinking about memories, and a host of other normal cognitive limitations.

The increased susceptibility to false memories does not qualify a person as having 'false memory syndrome' any more than someone who is more susceptible to perceptual illusions has 'illusion syndrome'. Illusions are the result of a typical visual system, and false memories a result of typical human memory. No extra labelling required, y'all.
