My Story

Me holding brains!
My name is Kim, and I do research. As an academic, my research has covered a variety of topics in the realm of Cognitive and Behavioral Sciences. I’ve tried to answer questions such as:
How do we visually perceive the world around us? How does this perception affect our behavior?
What causes perceptual illusions?
How do children recover from traumatic brain injury?
Are children in underserved populations affected cognitively?
How can we use computational modeling to simulate
And more…
I got my education from these fine institutions:
Bachelor of Science
Psychology
2004
Master of Science
Cognitive Neuropsychology
2007
Doctorate of Philosophy
Cognitive Neuroscience
2015

I even won 3rd place at an international illusion contest.
That’s me on stage!
In addition to research, I have had the pleasure and honor of teaching several courses. So far, my experience is with courses designed to introduce students to the Psychological Sciences. I have taught at institutions like Rice University and The University of Texas at Dallas.
Beyond research and teaching, I have a great love for family, friends that are practically family (framily), animals (manimals), music, foooood (Tacos et al.), Texas (y’all is a useful contraction – don’t fight it, y’all), beaches, and oxford commas. Looking forward to hearing from you!
