My Story

Me holding brains!

My name is Kim, and I do research. As an academic, my research has covered a variety of topics in the realm of Cognitive and Behavioral Sciences. I’ve tried to answer questions such as:

  • How do we visually perceive the world around us? How does this perception affect our behavior?

  • What causes perceptual illusions?

  • How do children recover from traumatic brain injury?

  • Are children in underserved populations affected cognitively?

  • How can we use computational modeling to simulate

  • And more…

I got my education from these fine institutions:

Master of Science

Doctorate of Philosophy

I even won 3rd place at an international illusion contest.
That’s me on stage!

In addition to research, I have had the pleasure and honor of teaching several courses. So far, my experience is with courses designed to introduce students to the Psychological Sciences. I have taught at institutions like Rice University and The University of Texas at Dallas.

Beyond research and teaching, I have a great love for family, friends that are practically family (framily), animals (manimals), music, foooood (Tacos et al.), Texas (y’all is a useful contraction – don’t fight it, y’all), beaches, and oxford commas. Looking forward to hearing from you!
